SCHOOL HISTORY

Lew Muckle’s life was a testament to ambition, service, and dedication to his community. Born on June 1 in St. Croix, he pursued his education in Puerto Rico, earning a Bachelor's in business administration before returning home to St. Croix to make a meaningful impact.

Muckle’s career was marked by his work as a youth counselor, educator, and administrator, but it was his role as a public servant that truly defined his legacy. At just 29 years old, he became a senator in the Ninth Legislature of the U.S. Virgin Islands, achieving what many aspire to in a lifetime. As a senator, he tirelessly worked to better his community, introducing legislation that improved the lives of his constituents, particularly the youth, whom he passionately championed.

His legacy lives on in the Virgin Islands through the Lew Muckle Elementary School and Lew Muckle Housing Development, both named in his honor. His life serves as an inspiring reminder that with determination, purpose, and a commitment to serving others, significant change can be achieved, even in a short time.

As Muckle’s story reminds us, to create change, we must embody it ourselves a lesson he imparted not just through words, but through his actions.
